The Macallan House

A fresh retail concept for the 200-year-old luxury whisky house

For more than two centuries, The Macallan has set the standard for craftsmanship in single malt whisky. Rooted in the soils of Speyside, it has grown into one of the world’s most revered spirits without losing sight of its origin.

As luxury shifts toward immersive, story-driven experiences, a new ambition emerged: to create physical spaces that express the brand’s soul.

The answer was The Macallan House – a global series of pioneering immersive retail spaces that bring the brand’s defining values – nature and culture – into physical form.

Born from a long-term creative partnership between The Macallan and TC & Friends, these Houses are places to slow down, taste, and connect with the whisky and its origins.

Together, we defined the concept of a “Brand Temple,” then led on the strategy and design direction. We appointed architect Jamie Fobert to design each House and selected local artists to create site-specific works across the global rollout — ensuring every House feels grounded in its local context.

The first House opened in autumn 2023 at Raffles Hotel Singapore.

Within this refined setting, nature and craft take physical form through two specially commissioned works by celebrated Singaporean designers: Nathan Yong and Tiffany Loy.

Nathan Yong’s The Estate translates the flowing contours of the River Spey into sculptural form, carved in green onyx — a stone chosen for its organic depth and quiet strength.

In dialogue, Tiffany Loy’s Nature Colour weaves the whisky’s signature amber tones into a tactile wall mural, handwoven in silk and wool, capturing the interplay between raw material and meticulous process.

Every detail extends the story.

As new Houses open in cities around the world, each balances The Macallan’s enduring craftsmanship with local creative expression – making it consistent in spirit, distinct in place.
